Dow Chemical in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced its sponsorship of the 8th Annual Saudi & Water Power Forum (SW&PF), which takes place on December 2-4, 2012 at the Hilton Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. In addition to sponsoring the event, Dow – a global leader in environmentally advanced separation and purification technologies – will also be highlighting its innovative range of solutions and will be participating as a guest speaker on one of the Forum’s panel sessions.

Dr. Ilham Kadri, General Manager, Dow Middle East & Africa (ME&A) and Commercial Director, Dow Water & Process Solutions, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) will present at the Forum’s panel session entitled, “The Energy & Water Nexus of Future Membrane Technology,” where she will highlight the company’s success with wastewater treatment and reuse through public-private partnerships.

The company will also showcase its range of industry-leading water treatment technologies at booth #D04, including the newest offering from Dow Water & Process Solutions, DOW IntegraPac™ UltraFiltration Skid. A pre-engineered, standardized skid design, DOW IntegraPac Skid significantly streamlines design, assembly and installation of DOW™ UltraFiltration modules, auxiliary parts and piping, resulting in lower costs, smaller footprint and shorter delivery schedule. Visitors to the booth will also be able to interact with Dow’s technical and business experts to discuss specific water treatment needs for Saudi Arabia, such as treating water from the Red Sea or Arabian Gulf.

“Given Saudi Arabia’s rapid growth and prominence on the world stage, the demand is ever increasing for its most precious and scarce resource: water,” said Dr. Kadri. “With five decades of market leadership in water sustainability technology and a $1.6 billion USD annual investment in R&D, Dow has been actively engaged in the Kingdom to develop innovative desalination and water recycling solutions to help combat the region’s unique water scarcity challenges. Dow continues to actively invest in projects, both independently and in collaboration with local partners, to continually innovate water treatment solutions for the region.”

Dow’s commitment to providing water treatment solutions for the region is linked to its strategic corporate objectives of improving global access to clean water. As a result, its commitment to the Middle East will continue to involve providing customized offerings to meet the region’s specific water needs, as well as facilitating further research to develop new and innovative water treatment solutions in this field. Dow’s water investments in the region include a manufacturing facility for DOW FILMTEC™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) elements, collaboration with the Saudi Saline Water Conversion Corporation for research in desalination technologies, and a partnership with the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST) to develop advanced water treatment technologies.
