On the 19th of May 2016, the EU Commission adopted Regulation (EU) 2016/918 amending the CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008, for the purposes of its adaptation to technical and scientific progress (ATP). The 8th ATP implements a revision of the UN GHS, and applies from the 1st of February 2018.

Upcoming deadline for treated articles under the BPR May 03, 2016
From the 1st of September 2016, products placed on the EU market that are treated with a biocide need to comply with Art. 95 of the Biocidal Product Regulation EU 528/2012. Active substances used to treat the product need to be approved within the EU, or be in the process of being approved for the relevant product type.


SCCS confirms safety of Phenoxyethanol in cosmetics May 03, 2016
In April 2016, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) issued an opinion endorsing the current listing of Phenoxyethanol in the Cosmetics Products Regulation (CPR) as safe for use as preservative in cosmetics.

On the 27th of January and the 1st of February 2016, the EU Commission has published the approval of OPP (biphenyl-2-ol) and CMIT/MIT, as existing active substances for use in biocidal products.

Online registration of closed circuit biocides in Belgium December 16, 2015

The Netherlands issues their procedure for the implementation of Article 95 September 02, 2015
The Netherlands now requires all authorisation holders to have proof of compliance and all new authorisations will be immediately reviewed for compliance with Article 95.

On the 27th September 2013 the EU Standing Committee on Biocidal Products recommended the approval of IPBC (3-iodo-2-propynylbutylcarbamate CAS: 55406-53-6) as an active substance for use in product type 6 (preservatives for products during storage).
