Nanette Hermsen,

Strategic Marketing Manager for Process Preservation

Nanette is responsible for the Gas and Oil, Water Treatment, Pulp & Paper, Metalworking Fluids and Fuel markets, leading the strategic development and implementation of global market plans with accountability for global revenue and growth in the target markets.

Nanette joined Dow in 1988 as part of the commercial development program in sales training. In 1989, she moved into a field sales role for performance products in Houston, Texas before relocating to Los Angeles, California as an account manager in Epoxy products and intermediates in 1991. In 1995, Nanette was promoted to senior account manager for Epoxy products and intermediates and moved to Chicago, Illinois. In 2001, Nanette was named North American marketing manager for Dow Biocides and most recently served as global marketing manager for Dow Biocides in 2004.

Nanette holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois.



Fred Singleton,

Lead Research and Development Specialist

Fred is responsible for identifying and leading the development and commercialization of global biocide applications for mold resistance in water treatment applications. He joined Dow in March 2007 as a research leader for Dow Biocides, now Dow Microbial Control. Fred has more than 20-years of experience related to biocides and solving microbial problems. He was named to lead research development specialist in 2009.

Fred began his career in 1982 as an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He went on to work in a variety of roles for the Center of Marine Biotechnology at the University of Maryland, before leaving in 1993 as acting director. Prior to his work at the University of Maryland, Fred joined BetzDearborn, Inc. as a group leader in Microbiological Sciences. In 1999 he joined Hercules Pulp and Paper Division as program manager of Microbiological Sciences and Contaminant Control. He was promoted to research fellow at Hercules Pulp and Paper Division in 2002.

Fred holds a B.S. degree in microbiology from Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina, and a M.S. in Medical Ecology from the University of Texas School of Public Health, Houston, Texas. He also received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Texas A & M University, College Station, Texas.

He has contributed to more than 72 scientific publications, including peer-review, abstracts, book chapters. He has six allowed patents and 6 patents pending. Fred is located in Buffalo Grove, IL.
