There’s always something to do

a couple on a boat

From hiking through wooded trails in the Chippewa Nature Center to sailing the pristine waters of Lake Huron or shooting some baskets at Hang Time after work, it’s hard to be bored in the Great Lakes Bay Region. The Midland Community Center offers state-of-the-art fitness facilities, squash, racquetball and paddleball courts, a climbing wall and swimming pools. Sports enthusiasts will love the sports leagues and clubs for basketball, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics and curling. The center also offers instruction in the fine arts with an array of dance, theater, art and pottery classes.

Dow employees and their families can become members of Dow’s own fitness center, which has first-rate exercise equipment, an indoor track, and aerobics rooms for a variety of fitness classes offered at the center, such as cycling, weight training and kick boxing. Dow also offers intramural soccer and softball leagues for employees, family members and friends throughout the year.

For a change of pace, you can have some fun bowling at Valley Plaza Lanes in Midland, Bay Lanes in Bay City or Stardust Lanes in Saginaw. Or perhaps you can try golfing at one of the many beautiful and affordable golf courses in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Camping, fishing and hunting are popular activities in the region during the summer and fall, and in the winter people pick up activities such as snowmobiling, skiing, snowboarding and ice fishing. Year round, Great Lakes Bay Region residents enjoy the city forest in Midland, which has a sledding hill and miles of cross-country ski trails that make beautiful routes for mountain biking and horseback riding when the weather warms up.
