Skills Initiative

Michigan Operations has launched a strategic skills initiative aimed at developing a twenty-first century workforce that is critical to sustaining our global competitiveness. This initiative addresses roles directly engaged in, or that support, chemical manufacturing. It confronts the reality that to compete in today’s knowledge-driven economy, skills obtained in the secondary education environment are no longer sufficient to deliver the performance required of today’s chemical manufacturing worker. Today’s process technician must have a two-year post secondary educational experience to perform at the high levels important to long-term business and individual success.

Delta ChemTech Program
Michigan Operations is playing a lead role in developing and promoting the Process Technology degree. This two-year, associates degree in Process Technology arms students with the knowledge and skills the chemical industry needs. The site is partnering with teachers, guidance counselors and community colleges to help develop curriculum, build awareness surrounding the program, and offer scholarships to interested students.
