Handling
One chemical concern when handling FILMTEC elements is the preservative used with wet tested elements. The preservative solution in wet elements is 1 weight percent sodium metabisulfite in water. Note that many FILMTEC elements are available and delivered dry and thus contain no preservative.

Installation
Installation of FILMTEC elements varies depending on element size and type and the pressure vessel into which it is installed. Consult the manufacturer of your pressure vessels for specific installation instructions and parts lists. The following loading and unloading procedures apply generally for single and multi-element housings.

When loading 8-inch elements, it is highly recommended that the element stack be shimmed before the vessel is closed. Shimming limits the motion of elements back and forth in a pressure vessel during startups and shutdowns, prolonging the life of the seals.
