Salts Removal

Salts can be removed from chemical process streams just like they are removed from water based streams.

In order for the salts to make good contact with the organic solvent, the ion exchange resin should first be dried. Water wet ion exchange beads will not hydrate with organic solvents as the interface layer between the water and solvent inhibits ion mobility. Dow offers dried resins such as DOWEX™ DR-2030 for cation removal.

After the cations are removed, the resulting acids can also be removed by using DOWEX M-43 resin.

For selective removal of different ions, Dow offers a variety of chelating / selective resins.
