Trace Metals Management
DOWEX™ resins play key roles in a number of metals management applications including uranium mining, zinc mining, cobalt refining, chromium plating, chromate, radium, and boron removal from groundwater and radioactive groundwater remediation. In addition to trace metals management, DOWEX resins are used extensively in control of problem ions such as nitrate and perchlorate. Dow continues to be extremely active in development efforts for new methods for primary metal separations in gold, copper, and nickel mining to ensure new resins and innovative processing technologies will be available for the hydrometallurgical processing industry in the coming years.
DOWEX ion exchange resins work just as well in non-aqueous organic streams as they do in water-based systems. Many Dow customers successfully use DOWEX ion exchange resins for removal of acids and metal salts from organic solvents in applications such as color control (shelf-life improvement) and precious metal catalyst recovery.
