Bisphenol A Catalyst
Dow has been making Bisphenol A (BisA) for decades using DOWEX™ catalysts. BisA is made by the acid catalyzed condensation reaction that follows.
The catalyst of choice for this reaction is QCAT mesh. QCAT is a fully functionalized catalyst that has been proven as a reliable catalyst through decades of internal use at Dow. Internally, the catalyst is used in conjunction with a proprietary promoter technology that dramatically increases the catalyst's productivity. This technology package can be licensed from Dow through the Dow Technology Licensing and Catalyst business.
