DOWEX Resins for Separation of Barium from Water
| |
|
| |
Barium is the 14th most common element in the Earth's crust and is generally found there as sulfate or carbonate complexes. Barium has very little commercial importance outside of its common role as a filler in paints and rubber formulations.

Applications
Potable Water: Barium can be non-selectively removed from groundwater using resins such as DOWEX™ MARATHON™ C (Na) strong acid cation exchange resin and DOWEX MAC-3 weak acid cation exchange resin. These processes change the composition of the water hardness components and produce barium containing wastes, which may not be desirable. These resins can be expensive to regenerate due to the higher chemical dose required.
Dow also produces DOWEX RSC (Radium Selective Complexer), a unique ion exchange product that is extremely effective at removing radium and barium from water.
If you have a commercial barium removal application, please Contact Us via the link on this page. Please include information about your particular barium removal application.
These products meet NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for contact with drinking water. For more information see our regulatory information.
