Dow Water Solutions Donates to Greater Twin Cities United Way

Local corporation continues to give during tough economic times to assist charitable organization

Edina, MN - October 13, 2008

Dow Water Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) and a global leader in water purification, seawater desalination, contamination removal and water reuse solutions, recently donated more than $50,000 to the Greater Twin Cities United Way as part of the company’s annual United Way campaign.

“With the additional cost burdens occurring this year due to numerous economic uncertainties, it is important to realize that we are more fortunate than many and these same economic pressures are directed at the less fortunate just as they are to us,” said Harry Engelhardt, Jr., business manufacturing leader, Dow Water Solutions. “This year’s campaign presented us with the opportunity to truly make a difference by proving that any dollar amount donated is meaningful if it comes from the heart.”

Funds raised by Dow Water Solutions will help the United Way provide resources to develop the kind of lasting change that helps children succeed, strengthens and supports families, promotes self-sufficiency in seniors and individuals with mental and physical challenges, and helps build vital and safe communities.

Since 1985, Dow Water Solutions has donated to a variety of non-profit organizations in the region. In 2008 alone, the organization has already provided more than $106,000 local charities. Dow Water Solutions employs approximately 750 people in the Twin Cities area.
