Licensees, Dow Share Ideas at Technology Exchange Meeting
The week-long event in Houston gathered representatives from 24 polypropylene (PP) manufacturing sites and Dow Basic Plastics Licensing & Catalysts to discuss new processing techniques and other innovations in PP manufacturing, including the new CONSISTA™ D7000 Donor technology.
Commitment to Collaboration
“Collaboration is key to continuously improving PP process technology,” says Tracy Cleckler, global commercial director of PP Licensing and Catalysts at Dow. “The Technology Exchange Meeting facilitates the collaboration between Dow and our licensees, which enables process and other manufacturing advancements. It also invites dialogue between the licensees, and that is truly unique in the industry. Our goal is to remain focused on innovation and enable our licensees to not just stay competitive, but to be leaders in the PP industry. These meetings are an important step in achieving that goal.”

Among the meeting highlights was the introduction of Dow’s new donor technology for high melt-flow applications, CONSISTA™ D7000 Donor. (Read more here.) With distinct advantages for PP manufacturers, the new donor will be a strong addition to the Licensing and Catalyst portfolio. After seeing the data presented at the Technology Exchange Meeting, interest was high among licensees.
Also at the meeting, UNIPOL PP Technology licensees reported marked success using the UNIPOL PP process with SHAC™ Catalysts and proprietary donors from Dow. The 10 PP producers in attendance represented more than 5.5 million tons of annual PP capacity.
