Executive Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer and Chief Information Officer
D. E. (Dave) Kepler is Executive Vice President, Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for The Dow Chemical Company.
As CSO, Kepler is responsible for Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) and leading the company's commitment to Set the Standard for Sustainability. He chairs Dow’s Sustainability Team that provides executive oversight for the company’s sustainable performance, which includes achieving the company's aggressive 2015 Sustainability Goals.
As CIO, a role he has held for over a decade, Kepler has been in the forefront of information technology deployment in the industry. He is a recognized leader in areas such as cyber security, risk management, value delivery, and provides advice and guidance across industry. Kepler was appointed to the U.S. National Infrastructure Advisory Council that advises the U.S. President on issues related to the security and resilience of the Nation’s critical infrastructure sectors and their functional systems, physical assets, and cyber networks.
Kepler has global responsibility for Business Services which includes Information Systems and Workplace Services, Business Process Services, Purchasing, Customer Service and the Dow Services Business. He also has oversight responsibilities for Dow's Canadian region.
Kepler’s 38 year career has spanned roles in information technology, supply chain, operations, marketing and business management. He joined Dow in Pittsburg, California and has had geographic assignments in the United States, Canada and the Pacific.
Kepler graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Today, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of California, Berkeley Foundation.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Teradata Corporation (TDC), an analytical data solutions company. He is also a board member of the TD Bank Group (TD) headquartered in Toronto, Canada; and he serves on the boards of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and The National Safety Council. He is the Board Chairman of the MidMichigan Innovation Center, a nonprofit incubator committed to growing and sustaining Michigan small businesses.
Kepler resides in Midland, Michigan, with his wife Patti, where both are actively engaged in many community organizations and services, including chairing the United Way’s Alex de Tocqueville Society.Revised: 01/09/2014
