Chief Sustainability Officer, Chief Information Officer, Business Services and Executive Vice President
D. E. (Dave) Kepler is Executive Vice President, Business Services, Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for The Dow Chemical Company. He also has oversight responsibilities for Dow's Canadian region.
In his Business Services leadership capacity, Kepler has global responsibility for Information Systems and Workplace Services; Business Process Services; Purchasing; and the Dow Services Business.
As CSO, Kepler is responsible for Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) and is charged with leading the company's commitment to Set the Standard for Sustainability, which includes achieving the company's aggressive 2015 Sustainability Goals. He chairs Dow's Sustainability Committee and the Sustainability External Advisory Council (SEAC), an organization formed to provide an outside-in perspective on sustainability to Dow.
As CIO, a role he has held for over 10 years, Kepler has been in the forefront of information technology deployment in the industry. He is a recognized leader in areas such as cyber security, risk management, value delivery, and provides advice and guidance across industry and to government.
Kepler began his Dow career in 1975 in Pittsburg, California, after receiving a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He has had numerous career assignments in Information Technology and Business, with geographic assignments in the U.S., Canada and the Pacific.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Teradata Corporation, an analytical data solutions company; and the TD Bank Group and its subsidiaries, collectively known as the TD Bank Group. Kepler is appointed to the U.S. National Infrastructure Advisory Council that advises the President on the protection of critical infrastructure and homeland security issues. He is on the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Safety Council. Kepler serves as a trustee of the University of California, Berkeley Foundation. He is the Board Chairman of the Mid-Michigan Innovation Center.
Kepler resides in Midland, Michigan, with his wife Patti, where both are actively engaged in many community organizations and services.Revised: 12/06/2013
