ETHOCEL Ethylcellulose PolymersETHOCEL™ Ethylcellulose resins are versatile, organosoluble, thermoplastic polymers. They result from the reaction of ethyl chloride with alkali cellulose. Raw materials include cotton linters and wood pulp. Ethylcellulose resins are widely used for coating, film forming, binding, and enhancing the performance of many different products ranging from industrial coatings to pharmaceuticals. The toughness, inertness, and fabrication and product versatility of these polymers allow them to meet a wide range of performance requirements in sheet form, as molding and extrusion resins, as pressure casting resins, and as resins for various coatings. ETHOCEL Premium resins are odorless, colorless, and film-forming, and they meet the requirements of numerous Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations for food contact applications. They are used in the formation of protective coatings, as binders, and as flavor fixatives. They are also safe for use in food contact applications. Commercial ETHOCEL Ethylcellulose Products
Note: Viscosities are for 5% solutions measured at 25°C in an Ubbelohde viscometer. For medium products, solvent is 60% toluene and 40% ethanol. For all other ETHOCEL Products, solvent is 80% toluene and 20% ethanol. |
