All Dow Inside cables made with DOW™ ENDURANCE™ products have been tested through a wide variety of global cable aging tests conducted by independent laboratories under a full range of operating conditions.

What factors affect the life of a cable?

Anything that lowers the electrical strength could affect the cable life. These include factors related to cable materials such as water treeing, insulation quality, the type of semiconductive shield compounds used, the consistency of compounds, contaminants in the insulation and semicons, cable defects related to handling or manufacturing, lack of concentricity and stress on insulation. Soil resistivity, lightning strikes, poor installation methods and even mechanical damage can also affect longevity.

Who developed the quality standards for Dow Inside products?

The quality standards have been developed by Dow based on our experience and knowledge of global best practices. The aim was to have higher requirements versus current international standards. Cable makers have to comply with strict quality guidelines as a condition of being licensed as a Dow Inside Partner.
