			Overview Intrusive Noise — An Increasing Problem Controlling Intrusive Noise IMMOTUS* R+ Solution

IMMOTUS* R+ is an innovative noise control system from Dow, designed to reduce sound transmission in both renovation and new build projects. The IMMOTUS R+ system consists of panels of IMMOTUS foam faced with plasterboard, mounted on high quality resilient metal rails. IMMOTUS foam is an advanced acoustic foam, engineered to have high noise control properties, it absorbs sound energy into itself and damps movement of the plasterboard. The full system is only 49.5mm thick when installed, taking up much less space than most other methods of sound control. Since its introduction the IMMOTUS R+ system has been widely used across Europe to provide significant reductions in sound transmission, not just in the laboratory, but in practice^†:

Renovation
Renovation of buildings often involves change of use — for example, warehouses converted to flats – with new spaces being created from the sub-division of larger ones. Those parts of the existing structure which become separating walls and ceilings must be upgraded to give the necessary levels of sound reduction and any new constructions must be built to the same standards. Traditional solutions often involve the loss of floor space or room height. The IMMOTUS R+ system gives high performance in only 49.5mm thickness and it can be applied to either side of walls, thereby extending the range of possible solutions.

Remedial Works
Where intrusive noise is a problem, either because noise control measures are inadequate or because noise levels have increased, remedial measures can be provided with the IMMOTUS R+ system. The installation process is quick and clean, causing minimum disruption to occupants, whilst the results of the installation can show a halving of impact and airborne sound transmission.

New Build
Proposed changes to UK Building Regulations will require dwellings and rooms for residential purposes to meet set levels of noise control. Use of the IMMOTUS R+ system can help to improve the performance of walls and ceilings to meet the required standards.
