Dow introduced its new HYPOD polyolefin dispersions (PODs) for carpet applications at Domotex 2008 in Germany. Essentially combining the performance characteristics of polyolefin with the benefits of waterborne application systems, the BLUEWAVE Technology enabled HYPOD Polyolefin dispersions allows manufacturers to apply thermoplastic carpet backing using conventional coating equipment.
Being thermoplastic, the HYPOD polyolefin dispersions ensures easier recycling at the end of the carpet’s life as well as excellent quality. Other benefits of HYPOD polyolefin dispersions include sustainability of material, wet strength and turf lock.
James Kennedy, marketing manager of Dow Carpet latex says “HYPOD is a low odour product, and is excellent for a variety of low end-use carpet applications, including modular tile pre-coats, contract/residential broadloom carpet, thermo-mouldable products, and artificial turf systems.”
