Dow Chemical International Private Limited (Dow India) in association with Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) is organizing a Jaipur Foot camp in Amravati to distribute artificial limbs, calipers and crutches free-of-charge to the physically challenged. This eight-day mobile camp takes place from October 30 – November 6, 2009 at Prahar Office, Amravati.

As the largest corporate sponsor of BMVSS, Dow India is committed to supporting Jaipur Foot’s work with the physically challenged through technical product development, financial donation and employee volunteerism. Since 2005, Dow India has donated INR 3 Crore to the organisation, changing the lives of more than 17,000 people by providing direct funding to the association as well as supporting three additional foot camps in 2008 at Chennai, Mumbai, and Pune.
Dow India’s technical team has worked closely with BMVSS for the development of the polyurethane Jaipur Foot to develop prosthetic limb that is functionally and cosmetically close to a natural human limb. The change of polymer material to polyurethane has reduced the weight, manufacturing cost and manufacturing time of the limb as well as increasing functionality, flexibility and longevity of the limb.
