Dow Microbial Control, a business unit of the Dow Advanced Materials Division*, announces a new technology tool in its portfolio for customers in India and around the world – TAUNOVATESM II high throughput anaerobic testing. TAUNOVATESM Testing allows for a comprehensive picture of microbial challenges and biocide performance, as well as valuable insight for customers on how to optimize treatment programs. With TAUNOVATESM II, customers can now test for a wide spectrum of anaerobic bacteria that can cause microbial contamination and biofouling in many industrial operation systems.
Dow Microbial Control offers an extensive portfolio of more than 14 biocide chemistries to the Indian market to solve almost any bacterial or fungal problem that exists, from industrial process systems to consumer products and industrial preservation. In addition, Dow Microbial Control operates a regional customer application center, one of eight centers around the world, which houses a fully equipped, state-of-the-art laboratory that is appropriate for Dow Biocides products applications in India, including patented TAUNOVATESM high throughput microbial testing and challenge testing capabilities in addition to dedicated technical sales representatives, and customer application specialists and technologists.

TAUNOVATE II testing can help customers in India optimize product use. For example, noted Strittmatter, in injection water systems in the oil and gas marketplace, AQUCARTM products from Dow Biocides help control microbial contamination, minimize biofilms, aid in the prevention of microbially-influenced corrosion, and reduce well and reservoir souring. Using TAUNOVATESM II testing, Dow can test specific anaerobic microorganisms isolated from customers’ operations to ensure the right biocide at the right concentration is being used to combat microbial contamination, thus providing huge cost savings relative to using too much product or needing to treat soured oil or gas reservoirs.
TAUNOVATESM II high throughput technology is highly flexible in evaluating performance while utilizing accurate and reproducible methods that mirror standardized testing methods. This new biocide screening tool provides efficient and cost-effective biocide performance analysis.
In comparison to conventional test methods, TAUNOVATESM high-throughput testing offers the capacity to manage and process large numbers of sample combinations to generate results from a comprehensive series of biocides. TAUNOVATESM testing provides the means for complete analysis of a biocide formulation across a combination of variables in a single package saving time and budget dollars.
