Paint and coatings formulators in India have a new option for developing environmentally preferred products. BIOBAN™ IPBC 40 LE Antimicrobial and BIOBAN ULTRA BIT 20 LE Antimicrobial are the first products of their kind specifically developed using patent pending LE TechnologySM from Dow Microbial Control for the paints and coatings industry to help reduce overall volatile organic compound (VOC) levels.

The innovative product line addresses the requirements for low/no-VOC levels while offering significant advantages over generic solvent-based or aqueous biocide formulations for the protection of industrial water-based products against harmful bacteria, yeasts and fungi.
BIOBAN™ IPBC 40 LE Antimicrobial (40% w/w 3-Iodo-2-propynylbutylcarbamate) is a broad spectrum dry film fungicide. BIOBAN IPBC 40 LE is formulated in solution form and can be used in water and solvent based formulations. It exhibits excellent attributes such as low color, low viscosity, easy pumping, no settling of solids, and low freezing point temperature. It offers protection in interior and exterior paints, coatings, wood protective stains and above ground wood preservatives. This product may also be used as a fungicide in paper coatings, inks, adhesives, sealants and cordage and metalworking fluids.
BIOBAN ULTRA BIT 20 LE Antimicrobial (20% w/w 1, 2-benzisothiazolin-3-one) is a high purity, low VOC, low color, low viscosity, broad spectrum biocide. Useful for the protection of industrial water-based products against bacteria, yeasts, and fungi, BIOBAN ULTRA BIT 20 LE is a long-lasting, non-formaldehyde based biocide that can be used under a broad range of pH and temperature conditions. The near-neutral pH of this preservative minimizes the potential for system shock. BIOCAN ULTRA BIT 20 LE can be used in a number of applications, including polymer latexes and emulsion systems, water-based paints, coatings, adhesives, oil-in-water emulsions, textile spin-finish solutions, fountain solutions, and bacterial control in the paper-making process.
