Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India), together with the Dow Automotive business unit of the company, are participating in the Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) from January 21-24, 2009, an annual automotive Symposium organised by The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). During the exhibition, Dow India scientists will showcase premium research innovations developed in the Pune research and development (R&D) centre of excellence through technical papers on automotive technology on topics such as blow-molded seat back; IMPAXX™ energy absorbing foam; and process simulation. In addition, Dow Automotive will demonstrate BETAFOAM™ for the roof crush applications of safety, noise vibration & harshness (NVH), durability and emissions during the ARAI exhibition. Dow Automotive provides solutions to automotive OEMs and equipment manufacturers around the globe.
SIAT is a widely-covered biennial international event organized by ARAI which runs from January 21-24 in Pune, India. SIAT serves as an important forum for sharing ideas and knowledge concerning promising areas of Automotive Engineering and Technology. The theme of SIAT 2009 is Eco-Mobility, emphasizing a need for cleaner, greener and eco-friendly mobility.
“In direct relation to the Symposium exposition theme of “Eco-Mobility”, Dow Automotive will showcase some of the best technologies for the automotive industry at the conference,” said Chandrakant Nayak, director Dow Automotive. “Notable amongst these is Dow’s Diesel Particulate Filter system (DPF), our latest technology offering to Indian automotive market that will aid in emission control. We are proud of the research that has gone into such sustainable solutions through our local research & development center in Pune, which will help us build a better tomorrow.”
In addition, other products and solutions on display from Dow Automotive during the exhibition include energy-absorbing foams that allow equipment manufacturers to meet the occupant safety requirements with lesser packaging space; structural adhesives and structural foams that enhance vehicle body stiffness and crash performance while significantly reducing vehicle weight and in turn helping to improve fuel efficiency; plastic seat back solutions allowing significant weight reduction while meeting stringent safety regulations at lower system level costs; and polyurethane (PU) foam materials for flexible seat foam and PU-based Long Glass Fiber Injection (LFI) material which provide greater flexibility for large, complex, exterior body panels especially when production volumes are relatively small. Dow Automotive will also demonstrate how these technologies can focus on commercial transport segment needs.
