Employees of Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) will run in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on January 18, 2009 in support of vocational education and training to differently challenged children and youth in Mumbai, through donations to Concern India Foundation. More than 30 employees will participate in the Corporate Challenge where employees are motivated to raise money through pledges.
“Marathons stir the conscience of every citizen, encouraging them to reach out in aid of a cause or charity. This initiative by our employees to run as a team in the prestigious Mumbai Marathon shows the drive and passion that our employees possess”, said Dr. Ramesh Ramachandran, president & CEO, Dow India, “This is a hallmark of Dow India’s commitment to the empowerment of the communities in which we operate and the encouragement we give to our employees to continue such efforts.”
The community initiative supported by Concern India Foundation runs a program for school children with multiple challenges and disabilities. The school provides basic education opportunities for physical and mental development, self-care and vocational training for children in Mumbai. Charity support at the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon is being managed by the United Way of Mumbai which encourages bringing professional management concepts to social work.
