Dow Chemical International Pvt. Ltd. (Dow India) is participating in the Vibrant Gujarat Investors’ Summit 2009 to be held in Ahmedabad on January 12 – 13, 2008. The event is organized with the objective to promote Gujarat as an investor-friendly destination as well as profiling investment opportunities in the state.
Vibrant Gujarat will see the active participation of Dow for the first time. Key highlight being a presentation on “The Global Chlor – Alkali Business – Challenges & Opportunities” by Carol Miller, global business director for global chlorinated organics. In addition an exhibition booth showcasing its product offering and services in Gujarat at the mega exhibition (Stall B-17) will be open to visitors from January 12 – 17, 2009.

Dow has already marked its investment in the state of Gujarat through the Dow – GACL SolVenture Ltd, a joint venture between Dow Europe GmbH and Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) to build and operate a chloromethanes facility at Dahej, while, Dow India uses the state as a key element in its supply chain needs. The company utilizes a 1,500 cubic meter insulated tank at Rishikiran terminal in Kandla, and uses the Kandla and Piparav as key gateway ports for imports into India.
As part of its community initiatives, Dow India inaugurated self-sustaining water purification plants in three villages in Dahej based on its reverse osmosis technology which are providing pure and safe drinking water to residents of Jolva, Ambheta and Vadadla at a maintenance cost of Rs 1 per 10 liters of water.
