Dow Takes “Center Ice” at 2014 AHR Expo

Global Industry Leader Promotes Solutions for Sochi 2014 Olympic Ice Hockey Venue and New FLUIDFILE™ Software to HVAC Industry

Midland, MI - January 17, 2014

As the Official Chemistry Company of the Olympic Games, Dow applied its technical expertise and unmatched innovation portfolio to help build a world-class ice surface for top-performing athletes. Dow will showcase its heat transfer fluid expertise and solutions for Sochi’s Bolshoy Ice Dome at the 2014 AHR Expo, January 21-23 in New York City (booth #1229).

At the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Dow heat transfer fluids are used in the Bolshoy Ice Dome, the main venue for ice hockey competition, to create and maintain the arena’s ice surfaces. Heat transfer fluids are also being used in the venue for the air conditioning system to offer reliable, steady temperature control to maintain ice quality and allow better performance and safety for athletes.

In both Bolshoy Ice Dome applications, the heat transfer fluids from Dow help control operating and maintenance costs. Dow fluids are designed to help meet demanding system performance, protection, and safety requirements in a number of applications, including HVAC, geothermal heat pumps and food and beverage processing.

To help make choosing the right fluid easier and more convenient for both experienced professionals and first-time system designers, Dow introduced the next-generation FLUIDFILE™ Software.

The all new program replaces earlier versions of FLUIDFILE™ and now provides up-to-date fluids information and more robust property calculation capabilities to deliver immediate property information specific to user requirements. The program includes properties for DOWTHERM™ synthetic organic fluids, SYLTHERM† silicone fluids, as well as DOWTHERM™, DOWFROST™ and DOWCAL™ inhibited glycol-based fluids. Users specify the region where fluids will be used and the program responds by offering calculations for the full range of fluids available locally.

Dow heat transfer fluids offer the broadest operating range and feature excellent thermal stability. World-scale production and logistics capabilities combined with local sales and technical support enable Dow to meet heat transfer fluid requirements globally.
