Containing Plant-Derived Ingredients, DOWFROST™ RVR Winterizes RVs Midland, MI - August 25, 2008On this Labor Day, owners of boats, recreational vehicles (RVs), swimming pools and vacation homes will be able to buy DOWFROST™ RVR seasonal antifreeze from any of the 3,800 Wal-Mart stores in the United States. DOWFROST™ RVR is a new patent-pending product that contains plant-derived, bio-renewable ingredients. While never intended for ingestion, DOWFROST™ RVR, made by Dow, is safe for incidental contact with people or pets, which is important whenever there is a possibility of an accidental spill. Similarly, DOWFROST™ RVR will not harm fish, aquatic plants or other animals if it is accidentally spilled in the outdoors. DOWFROST™ RVR Is Biodegradable Supplying DOWFROST™ RVR antifreeze to consumers through Wal-Mart is consistent with Dow’s 2015 Sustainability Goals, by offering products that help protect human health and the natural environment. Based on its ingredients, DOWFROST™ RVR is fully biodegradable and will not concentrate in ground or surface water. This is very important for any product that may be used by consumers in an RV or similar system that is near homes, water wells, and shore lines or, – in the case of boats – lakes, rivers or the ocean. Petroleum Savings Both Dow and Wal-Mart have very aggressive environmental goals, which include reduction of greenhouse gas release, energy conservation and the use of products with a minimum environmental impact over their entire life cycle. DOWFROST™ RVR offers significant savings of petroleum-based products. Based on early estimates of seasonal demand, over three million pounds of traditional hydrocarbons will be saved from consumption – equal to nearly 250,000 gallons of oil.
