Habitat for Humanity Calgary builds a new home in Albert Park
Volunteers and community partners support local Habitat for Humanity build
Calgary, Ab - September 26, 2009
Together with corporate partners, Nexen Inc., Blakes, Cassons & Graydon LLP, Enerplus Resources, Syngenta and Dow AgroSciences, Habitat for Humanity Calgary raised the roof on a home for a Calgary family. Thirty employees from these five corporations, along with the future homeowners and Habitat volunteers spent the day measuring, sawing and hammering.
"I am proud to say that another family in Calgary will soon have a decent and safe place to live," said Andrew MacLachlan, president of Habitat for Humanity Calgary. "It was a great day and we attribute that success to our committed corporate sponsors and our dedicated volunteers and homeowners."
The completion of yet another Habitat for Humanity house not only will provide one family with a place to call home, but will enable them to acquire assets, break the cycle of poverty and reduce their dependence on other forms of social assistance. As such, this home is not just an investment in one family, but an investment in a stronger economy and a better standard of living for all Canadians.
