For two weeks in September, Dow Automotive Systems employees joined forces with over 200 volunteers, sponsors and families to help construct four ranch style houses during the Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build Detroit. The four new houses located in the Morningside Commons area on the east side of Detroit will soon be home to families due to the hard work of Dow employees who raised walls, roofed, installed siding, painted, and put the finishing touches on one of the homes.
“This was an excellent opportunity for the Dow Automotive Systems team to come together to give back to the community,” said Steve Henderson, General Manager, Dow Automotive Systems. “We are especially excited to work on this home as part of Habitat’s revitalization of Detroit.”
In addition to volunteer hours, a wide variety of energy efficient products were donated by Dow including STYROFOAM™ insulation that will help keep the homes warm in winter and cool in summer, making the homes more comfortable and utility costs lower – important benefits for Habitat homeowners.
“The need in our community is great,” said Vincent Tilford, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity Detroit. “This support from Dow means that we can
positively change the lives of families. We’re so proud to be a part of the support provided by Dow to Habitat for Humanity around the world.”
