Dow Recognizes Outstanding People Development Contribution of China Employees

Shanghai, China - June 27, 2006

The Dow Chemical Company recently announced the 2006 worldwide recipients of the GENESIS Award for Excellence in People Development, with two employees based in Shanghai selected for this prestigious honor as part of a very exclusive group – 21 people out of 42,000 globally. They are Tim Hassinger, Regional Commercial Unit Leader of Dow AgroSciences Greater China, and Eric L. H. Lee, Sales Director for Chemicals & Intermediates and Performance Chemicals of Dow Greater China. The GENESIS Award is given to Dow employees who clearly embrace the company’s strategy to build a people-centric performance culture by energizing and developing people and contributing to a workforce focused on bringing out the best in others.

“One of the key priorities of building a Dow people-centric performance culture is to cultivate strong leader capabilities at all levels of the organization in Asia Pacific and globally. We firmly believe that success begins with people,” said Jim McIlvenny, President of Dow Asia Pacific. “Our GENESIS recipients from China are role models for our organization, and receiving the Award is truly an honor. This recognition brings both personal success and company success as Dow continues to expand and consolidate its business into fast growing markets like China.”

Tim Hassinger joined Dow in the US in 1984 as a sales trainee and quickly moved on to higher positions becoming District Sales Manager for the Mid-South US in 1996, Market/Sell Leader for the Americas in 2000 and Global Business Leader in Dow’s Insecticides Global Business Unit in 2001. Eric L. H. Lee joined Dow in 1980 as Senior Sales Representative for Plastics and was named Product Marketing Manager for Chemicals in 1990. He was named President of Dow’s joint venture with Asahi Chemical of Japan in 1994 and Sales Director for Chemicals in Dow Greater China in 1998 before assuming his current position in 2003.
