“A Celebration of China: Far East Meets West”
Dow is one of the major sponsors of the “A Celebration of China: Far East Meets West” cultural celebration of the rich heritage of China. Through its support of this milestone event, Dow hopes to drive a more robust exchange in culture between the United States and China.
The sponsorship is part of Dow’s growing commitment to China. In May 2007, the company announced a cooperation agreement and detailed feasibility study for an historic project to build a world scale coal-to-chemicals complex in Shaanxi Province.
Because of the project’s magnitude, its unique location in the hub of ancient China and other business relationships in the Far East, this exhibition and celebration have additional significance.
“It is well-known that where commercial, business and trade cooperation proceeds, cultural and historic communication will normally follow,” says Andrew Liveris, Dow chairman and CEO. “As we move forward in our investments in China, we are hopeful that through this exhibit the people of Michigan and the region will have a better understanding of China – the country, the people, the government and a culture rich in ancient history.”
Other sponsors of this event are:
Northwest Airlines, Dow Corning Corporation, SPL Integrated Solutions, Knight Facilities Management, McKay, WNEM TV5, NextMedia, The Midland Rotary Club Foundation and National Geographic Society.
