Dow-Sponsored Golfer, Pettersen, Wins 2011 Safeway Classic; Moves to No. 2 in Rolex Rankings

Dow-sponsored Ladies Professional Golfing Association (LPGA) golfer, Suzann Pettersen, won the Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola in North Plains, Oregon on Sunday, August 21.

After reappearing on the leader board from nine shots back, Pettersen recorded a par on the 18th hole to defeat Rolex Rankings No. 5 Na Yeon Choi on the first hole of a playoff.

The win on Sunday drives Pettersen into the No. 2 spot in the Rolex Rankings.

This is Pettersen's second LPGA Tour title of the year and the eighth of her career. She also won the 2011 Sybase Match Play Championship back in May, and recently won the Ladies European Tour's Ladies Irish Open at Killeen Castle on Aug. 7.

Dow-sponsored Ladies Professional Golfing Association (LPGA) members Suzann Pettersen and Jiyai Shin are ranked second and fourth in the world respectively. Pettersen hails from Norway and Shin from South Korea. Dow also sponsors golf legend Corey Pavin, Michigan native and PGA touring professional, Tom Gillis, and Sean O’Hair who recently won the 2011 Canadian Open.
