Methylene Chloride SVG-N

Specially stabilized Methylene Chloride for metal cleaning

Methylene Chloride SVG-N is a specially stabilized Methylene Chloride grade designed to satisfy the most stringent requirements in metal cleaning applications. It efficiently cleans metal surfaces without causing corrosion problems to equipment and work pieces.

The particular inhibitor system of Methylene Chloride SVG-N protects against reactivity with metals, heat, oxygen, moisture, lubricants, etc. Methylene Chloride SVG-N is certified for cleaning of aluminium (approval of the BAM, German Institute for Material Testing in Berlin). Furthermore, it contains a neutral acid acceptor which is capable of neutralizing acids which may be formed in industrial cleaning processes. Due to these special properties, Methylene Chloride SVG-N is used for cleaning of heavy, nonferrous and light metals.

Compared to other degreasing solvents such as Trichloroethylene or Perchloroethylene, Methylene Chloride SVG-N provides increased cleaning efficiency, due to its high solvency power.

When used in a vapor phase process, the low boiling point of Methylene Chloride SVG-N results in an excellent suitability for cleaning of temperature-sensitive parts and allows for short cleaning cycles.

The energy requirements in vapor degreasing operations with Methylene Chloride SVG-N are considerably lower when compared to processes based on the use of conventional cleaning solvents such as Trichloroethylene or Perchloroethylene (approx. 3.5 times lower than with Trichloroethylene and approx. 5 times lower than with Perchloroethylene).

Methylene Chloride SVG-N evaporates faster than conventional degreasing solvents. For this reason it must be used in special, enclosed equipment. Metal parts cleaned in such equipment emerge dry and do not require any time for cooling, but can be touched and processed immediately, due to the low vapor temperature of Methylene Chloride SVG-N.

Methylene Chloride SVG-N does not deplete the ozone layer. Its impact on smog formation, greenhouse effect and acid rain is considered to be negligible. However, Methylene Chloride SVG-N, like any other chlorinated solvent, can be harmful to human health and to the environment, if used improperly.

It is therefore extremely important that those responsible for handling and using chlorinated solvents are aware of approved procedures to be followed.
