Carmelized Sugar Fruit, orange, grapefruit, soft drinks, beer, etc. Usually visible when fresh. Heat of tumbling or pressing caramelizes the sugar causing a brown stain. Practically impossible to remove after caramelized unless fabric is white and can be bleached. Use appropriate spotting technique
Copper Copper salt complex in solvent. See Discolored Solvent. A green stain will appear on white or pastel-colored fabrics pretreated with moisture, or wet-side spotting agents. The copper salt in the solvent has a greater affinity for moisture than the dry surrounding areas of fabric. See Discolored Solvent
Jewelry Generally caused by copper ornaments or designs Usually visible as a green color caused by copper salt formation Use appropriate spotting technique
Perspiration Secretion of body oils from skin pores Generally found at underarm, neck and cuff areas Use appropriate spotting technique
Tannin Coffee, tea, walnuts, and vegetable oils Usually visible when fresh. Practically impossible to remove after aging or being set by the heat of tumbling and or pressing. Similar to caramelized sugar stains. Use appropriate spotting technique
