CRC Honors Retiring Florida Director Bob Heward
Bob Heward, who served as the Regional Director for the Florida Region of the Carbide Retiree Corps (CRC) for more than 25 years, has elected to retire. He and his wife, Shirley – who helped Bob found and nurture many CRC chapters – were honored at a luncheon held by the Southwest Florida Chapter in North Fort Myers on February 24, 2011.
Twenty CRC members, led by President Fred Costello, attended the event. The CRC Board was represented by Dave and Nancy Clash (President), Joe Vogt (VP-CFO), John and Fran Durkin (Regional Director, Midwest) and Dennis Kompare (New Florida Regional Director). Bob and Shirley’s family was represented by their adopted son, Vance Enck.
Bob was presented with a plaque of appreciation by Fred Costello on behalf of the Southwest Florida Chapter. The CRC Board gave him a recognition award engraved with the CRC logo, his name and dates of service. Bob also received a framed certificate of thanks that outlined his many contributions.
The certificate specifically acknowledged him for serving as Regional Director for Florida, organizing many chapters, founding the FIN program, originating centenarian recognition, being the CRC historian, managing the CRC website and giving wise counsel to the CRC Board of Directors. He played a key role in hosting the many Tampa reunions. Bob was supported in every effort by his wife, Shirley.
During their service, Bob and Shirley made many friends, whom they sincerely appreciated. Happy Retirement!
