Dow Electronic Materials Inaugurates New Facility to Serve Fast-Growing OLED Market
Dow Electronic Materials, a business unit of Dow Advanced Materials, held an opening ceremony to inaugurate its new OLED Electronic Materials facility in Cheonan. The facility will supply leading-edge emissive materials to serve the rapidly growing active matrix OLED market. The opening ceremony was held at the Cheonan, Korea, manufacturing facility and was attended by Jerome A. Prey Named Chief Executive Officer of New Chlor-Alkali Joint Venture
Dow and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. of Japan announced the appointment of Todd A. Prey as chief executive officer of their new chlor-alkali manufacturing joint venture. The two companies announced on July 1, 2010, a definitive agreement to form a 50:50 manufacturing joint venture to construct, own and operate a new membrane chloralkali facility located at Dow’s Freeport, Texas, integrated manufacturing complex.
Rohm and Haas Announces Cash Tender Offer and Consent Solicitation for Morton International’s 9-¼% Credit Sensitive Debentures Due June 1, 2020
Rohm and Haas Company, a subsidiary of Dow, announced that, as a part of Dow’s ongoing actions to reduce debt, it has commenced a cash tender offer and related consent solicitation to purchase any and all of Morton International, LLC’s (formerly known as Morton International, Inc.) outstanding $145.167 million aggregate principal amount of 9-¼% credit sensitive debentures due 2020. The tender offer is being made at a price of $1,430 for each $1,000 principal amount of such debentures validly tendered on or before the early tender date which is 5 p.m., New York City time, on August 18, 2010, which amount includes an early tender premium of $30 per $1,000 of debentures. Debentures tendered after such early tender date, but before the expiration date, which is 11:59 p.m., New York City time, on September 1, 2010, will be eligible to receive $1,400 for each $1,000 principal amount of such debentures validly tendered, which amount does not include the early tender premium.
Dow and Interfilm Improve Sustainability of Window Envelope Films
Interfilm Holdings Inc. (Interfilm) and Dow are improving the sustainability of window envelope films with the purchase of renewable energy credits (RECs) to offset the conventional energy expended at Dow’s Hebron, Ohio, plant in the production of PROCITE™ Window Envelope Films. The RECs are certified through a third party, and they comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and audit processes.
Dow Showcases New Photovoltaic Solutions at European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference

Dow Advanced Materials Breaks Ground on New Acrylic, Styrene-Acrylic Polymer Plant in Vietnam

Dow Announces Plans for New Propylene Glycol Plant in Thailand
Dow announced that it plans to build a propylene glycol (PG) plant in Map Ta Phut, Thailand, with a production capacity of up to 150 KTA. The new PG facility will utilize propylene oxide (PO) derived from the new, sustainable hydrogen peroxide to propylene oxide (HPPO) technology, developed jointly by Dow and BASF SE. The HPPO plant is being constructed as part of the integrated joint venture liquids cracker and derivatives project in Thailand with Siam Cement Group (SCG).
