Are You Planning for a Healthy 2011?

Good Health Is an Action
Being healthy takes more than just avoiding risk and hoping for the best; it takes proactive engagement! To enjoy the healthiest retirement possible, we must set meaningful goals, make a plan for achieving those goals, implement that plan and continuously measure progress to make sure the plan is working or adjust if needed. We need to learn about and take an active role in our own health care. In other words, we have to be ENGAGED in our own health!
Use the Dow Retiree Health Empowerment Program for Support
We must take ownership of our health – but that doesn’t mean we have to do it alone. Dow Health Services provides a variety of programs and special activities to help support healthier living. In 2011, global health engagement opportunities include:
- MOVE for Good Health (January – December) to help you MOVE MORE than you do today and enjoy the benefits of regular physical activity.
- Walk at Dow Day (March 9) to join Dow people around the world as we walk “together” in support of an active lifestyle.
- 12% Solution to Stress Management (September 7 – October 20) to teach you key resiliency-building activities and help you establish healthy habits for managing stress in your life.
- Preventive Care Day (October 27) to focus your attention on your options for disease prevention and early detection.
- Plan for Your Health Day (December 1) to remind you to set new health goals for 2012.
- Good Health Phone-In Presentations (monthly) to educate you on various aspects of health.
