Midland Area Retirees Reconnect for a “Grand Slam Reunion”

About 850 Dow retirees recently gathered in Midland, marking a new attendance record for the Company’s hometown reunion. Dow’s Earl Shipp, vice president for Michigan Operations and the keynote speaker for the evening, updated the retirees on how the Company is performing and transforming into the New Dow, citing the groundbreaking at the Dow Kokam battery plant and the Vision Zero house as proof points. Retirees were also encouraged to take advantage of the recent launch of Dow VolunteerMatch, a web site that matches individuals with community projects suited to their skills and interests, making it easier for retirees to volunteer and to give back to the community.
As a fitting ending to the “Grand Slam Reunion,” retirees watched the Great Lakes Loons, Midland’s Minor League baseball team, play a night game against the Dayton Dragons. Although the Loons didn’t win that night, the reunion was a success, filled with a fun raffle event, a delicious meal, educational information and great conversation among friends and former colleagues.
