  1. What is the process for filling out a matching gift form?
    First, you must either make or send a donation of at least $250 and fill out portions “A” and “B” and then send it on to the college. When the college receives the form they will fill out portion “C” and send on to The Dow Chemical Company where we will match every quarter.

  2. Can I give money through a family fund?
    Yes, as long as the person is an eligible participant, they can pay through a family fund.

  3. Can I give through a community foundation?
    As long as the funds are that person's money alone, and the person is an eligible participant, then yes they are allowed to give through a community foundation fund.

  4. Are surviving spouses eligible?
    No.

  6. Are K-12 schools eligible for the match?
    No, only accredited institutions and organizations tied to those colleges (such as college radio or public television) may be eligible for the program.

  7. Can I give money through another company?
    Money given through another company will not be matched.

  8. Can I give money through a trust?
    Yes, money from an individual or family trust can be matched.

  9. Are terminated employees eligible for the match?
    No.

    As long as it is splitting funding between two eligible programs for one accredited college and has the minimum of $250, then it is okay to split funding.

    There is no way for employees and retirees to know if their gift has been matched. The best thing to do is to send checks in early so that they can be certain that they will be matched.

  12. Why has the minimum match been raised to $250?
    The change was associated with administrative costs to process matches.

  13. How much can I give to any one eligible organization and have it matched?
    $5,000 per year.

    Yes, the financial institution will need to submit the matching gift form at the time they submit your contribution.

    Non-cash gifts such as real or personal property, works of art, and donated labor are NOT acceptable forms of non-cash contributions. Securities and donations from acceptable funds however, are okay.

    Yes, an IRA is now an acceptable form that can be matched.

    UCC, Rohm and Haas and retirees from other Dow acquisitions that retired after their respective acquisition merger date are eligible to participate in the program, while retirees before such merger acquisitions are unfortunately unable to participate.

    The Dow Chemical Company Foundation will match a gift you make to a specific scholarship as long as you have no control over who will or will not receive the scholarship.
