ENGAGE Polyolefin Elastomers
The advantages of ENGAGE™ Polyolefin Elastomers are hot off the press, literally – if you are talking about crosslinked injection molding (SL-IM) presses.
Crosslinked molded foams – especially emerging XL-IM technology – shows huge benefits with ENGAGE elastomers compared with ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymers. Formulations based on ENGAGE elastomers can provide numerous processing improvements with no known drawbacks today compared with EVA, including:
- Lighter foams at equivalent hardness
- Excellent low temperature flexibility
- Enhanced resiliency
- Lower shrinkage
- Improved abrasion resistance
- Enhanced filler capacity which can accepts higher levels of regrind
- Very good quality foam
Plus, ENGAGE elastomers exhibit one-third to one-tenth the shrinkage of conventional EVA midsoles. So, midsoles made from ENGAGE polymers will help fit the upper and outsole even after the primer and adhesive drying oven.
ENGAGE elastomers can also be used alone in a variety of other footwear applications, or to modify other materials for impact resistance or improved low-temperature performance. They can be found in high-performance athletic shoes, comfortable slippers, sock liners and industrial boot components. And their processability adds to their value in many applications.
