Sharing our success…

Texas - March 08, 2007

Organizations making positive contributions to their communities will once again have the chance at winning up to $25,000 in funding through the 2007 Dow Chemical Texas Operations Community Grant Program.

The program will award a total of $200,000 in grants again this year. The application deadline is April 20, 2007. The application deadline is April 20, 2007.

To quality, applicants must be charitable or non-profit organizations (have a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax designation) or be municipal or government agencies and be based in southern Brazoria County.. Groups with religious affiliations are also eligible, provided their project benefits the community as a whole.

All applications must have a Dow employee sponsor.

Organizations can choose between applying for a Heritage Grant of up $25,000 and or a Diamond Grants of up to $5,000.

“This competitive grant program is designed to identify projects that will help make our local communities better places to live and work over the long term,” says Trish Ritthaler, community relations manager. “Dow is proud to be a part of this region and we want to make it even stronger by helping meet community needs.”

Ritthaler notes this year’s program requires applicants to show how their project fits into at least one of Dow’s focus areas for contribution - science in society, community sustainability, and environmental enhancement.

Since 2004, Dow’s community grants program has distributed about $600,000. The program has previously supported projects such as rehabilitation facilities for wildlife, restoration of historical buildings, youth environmental education, community health information and workforce development.

Winners are selected by a committee made up of Dow employees and community members.

Two special information sessions about the program will be held on Thursday, March 22 at the Lake Jackson Civic Centre. The first is from 9-11 a.m. and the second is from 5-7 p.m. Interested participants can RSVP to 979-238-4649 or CApark@dow.com.
