Texas Operations Announces 2004 Community Grant Program Winners

Freeport, TX - August 12, 2004

They applied. They competed. They won.

Dow Texas Operations is proud to announce that 19 local organizations will receive funds from the site's 2004 Community Grants Program (CGP).

The competitive grant program is a part of Dow's charitable giving. It was designed to help local non-profit organizations, municipal or government agencies, and public schools that had projects which identified a social, economic and/or environmental need in the community.

"The CGP provides the mechanism for Dow to work with the community on a number of smaller high value projects," said Jan Huisman, Public Affairs Leader for Dow Texas Operations. "This year's recipients come from every corner of our area. Their projects bring tangible results that make a positive impact for many people in our community."

As part of the CGP, organizations were invited to compete for one of two grants. The "Diamond" Grant was worth up to $5,000 and the "Living. Improved daily." Grant had a maximum amount of $25,000.

More than 50 organizations vied for the competitive grants with a panel of Dow and community judges selecting the winners.

Eighteen organizations applied for the "Diamond" Grant. The "Living. Improved daily." Grant had 32 applicants.

"We had great participation for our 'Living. Improved daily.' Grants," said Huisman. "In 2005, we hope that we will have more organizations apply for our "Diamond" Grants. Projects that have entities working together to enhance the quality of life for our neighbors will be given special consideration."
