Dow Texas Operations Releases 2003 Public Report

Freeport, TX - August 10, 2004

Dow Texas Operations has released its 2003 Public Report, which can be viewed at www.dowtexasoperations.com.

"The 2003 Public Report enables our community to better understand what is going on at Texas Operations," said Linda Bartholome, Responsible Care Leader for the site. "In each report, we are able to show the site's progress toward our corporate 2005 Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) goals."

Texas Operations 2003 Public Report Highlights

  • There has been a 45 percent reduction in chemical emissions since the baseline year of 1994.
  • Loss of primary containment (LOPC) incidents such as leaks, breaks and spills have been reduced by more than 73 percent since 1994. 
  • In 2003, Dow Texas Operations contributed more than $1.4 million to local and state-wide non-profit organizations and local public schools.

The report focuses on environmental stewardship, corporate social responsibility and economic prosperity. It also includes a letter from Bob Walker, vice president of Dow Texas Operations, information on the site's Community Advisory Panel and Texas Operations' financial impact.

The Texas Operations report is one of 21 local reports produced by Dow in addition to its sixth global Public Report, which was recently released. All Dow Public Reports are available at www.dowpublicreport.com. As part of the company's efforts to increase transparency, the web site includes additional information on key operating and performance data from Dow and its 21 manufacturing sites.
