Walker Named Vice President of Dow Texas Operations

Freeport, TX - March 05, 2004

Bob Walker has been named vice president of Dow Texas Operations. Walker comes to Freeport from Dow's St. Charles Operations in Louisiana where he was vice president and site director.

"I'm excited about getting back to Texas Operations, where I started my Dow career back in 1970," Walker said. "While I've physically been gone from the area for about 20 years, I've maintained very close ties to the site through my various roles and responsibilities at Dow. In addition, many of my family members continue to reside in the Brazosport area. So in a way, it's coming back home."

Walker has worked at six Dow locations, starting in 1970 as a production engineer at Texas Operations. He held a variety of positions at Glycol A and B and was named superintendent of CHLOROTHENE* solvents in 1981.

"I can't wait to start getting reacquainted with my colleagues in Texas and meeting the employees I haven't had the pleasure of working with," Walker said. "I also look forward to working with community leaders in the Brazosport area to ensure that our successful relationship continues."

Walker will transition into his new role over the next several weeks. He said that he will work closely with Tommy Block to ensure a smooth handoff. Block, who will conclude five years as the vice president of Texas Operations in April 2004, elected to retire in February.

Background

He was named vice president and operations director for Dow's Eastern Canada Operations in May, 1998 in addition to the Polystyrene global manufacturing leader role.

Walker was named vice president and site director for the Dow location in Seadrift, Texas from February 2001 to February 2003, before relocating to St. Charles Operations as vice president and site director, with additional manufacturing responsibility for Industrial Chemicals.
