Dow Employees Contribution DriveThe employees of Dow Texas Operations gave $878,795 to the 2003 Dow Employees Contribution Drive. A majority of the money will be donated to the United Way of Brazoria County. Some employees choose to send their donations to other United Way chapters.Dow employees represent four percent of the working adults in Brazoria County, but account for more than 40 percent of the revenues raised by the United Way of Brazoria County. Since the 1988 campaign, the DECD has raised more than $17 million for local aid organizations. "This years DECD once again shows how much Dow employees care about this community," said Tommy Block, vice president of Dow Texas Operations. "I am proud to see such generosity, especially at this difficult time. They continue to amaze me with their donations and volunteer hours. The 2003 DECD was helped this year by a Steak Value Meal fundraiser held on site that raised $3,500. DECD organizers also provided employees with opportunities to learn more about United Way agencies. "We set a very high goal of $875,000 given the current economy and Dow employees rose to the challenge," said Kathy Krupp, DECD chairperson. "As with every year, they have been enthusiastic about making a positive impact on our community." The United Way is a strategic partner of Dow, providing help for those in need, while improving the quality of life for the community. From meals and activities for children and senior citizens to helping adults learn to read, the United Way helps neighbors, friends and quite often, Dow employees and their families. |
