Dow Leaders selected to serve on Gov.-Elect Jindal’s Advisory Councils
Baton Rouge, Louisiana - December 11, 2007
Dow's strong presence and reputation in Louisiana were recognized recently as five of its leaders were selected to serve on four of only seven advisory councils formed by Louisiana Governor-Elect Bobby Jindal as he prepares to take over the state’s top office in January.
"It is an honor to be included in the planning stages of the new Jindal Administration," said St. Charles Operations site leader Nawzer Parakh, who along with State Government Affairs leader Donna Carville, serves on the Government and Fiscal Reform council. "It is important to everyone in Louisiana, including Dow, that we have a state government that is doing the work needed to move our state forward in a fiscally responsible manner," Parakh said.
Louisiana Operations Site leader Sharon Cole, who will advise Jindal as a member of the Environmental Council agrees. "A strong partnership between government and industry is needed if we are to overcome Louisiana's challenges of high energy costs, business taxation, and workforce skill level." Also from Louisiana Operations is Mike Matlock who will participate on the Workforce Development Council.
Karen Kay, site leader of ANGUS Chemical (a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow) in northern Louisiana testified before the Economic Growth Transition Advisory Council's Business Retention and Recruitment Group. "It is encouraging that the governor-elect is seeking input as he begins to define the path forward for our state," says Kay.
The advisory councils began meeting in late November and will meet during the transition period which ends with Jindal’s inauguration on January 14.
