Dow employees Robert Samson and John Gilmore speak with Plaquemine resident Gloria Rodrigue during the Door to Door visits on Oct. 24th.

More than 65 Dow employees recently partnered with Office of Emergency Preparedness representatives, the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Iberville Fire Department, going door-to-door on October 24th to visit about 1,400 near neighbors and share information regarding emergency preparedness.

During the visits residents were asked if they had concerns about area industry and if they know what to do when the parish Community Alert Broadcast System is activated.  The volunteers also took time to apologize to residents for the most recent flare activity and to education them on the importance of flaring as a safety measure.

The Dow employee volunteers distributed gift bags that included the Louisiana Operations Good Neighbor News, a Dow Health Services “Healthy Eating” flyer, a Dow West Nile Information Brochure, a Louisiana "2 Step" Brochure, emergency preparedness tips, and a Dow "shake for power" emergency flashlight made from a plastic product manufactured at the Dow facility in Plaquemine.
