Baton Rouge Welcomes China Delegation
Baton Rouge, Louisiana - July 23, 2007
The City of Baton Rouge, Dexco Polymers LP, The Dow Chemical Company and The Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a delegation of government officials and businessmen from the People’s Republic of China during a reception at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center on July 22.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and Dexco Polymers General Manager Chris Mudd welcomed the delegation from the City of Heze in Shandong Province and the Shandong Yuhuangjinyu Chemical Industry Company, Ltd. The purpose of the meeting was to foster the relationship between the Chinese and American chemical companies and also to establish a “Sister City” cooperative relationship between Baton Rouge and the city of Heze.
Shandong Chemical has been a business partner with Dexco Polymers, a joint venture between Dow and ExxonMobil, for the past two years. They and the Chinese government officials are visiting several U.S. cities for the first time. Dexco’s world scale production facility is located at the Dow Chemical site in Plaquemine, La. Dexco Polymers is one of the world’s leading producers of styrenic block copolymers, a type of synthetic rubber which is used in a variety of products like adhesives and disposable diapers.
