The recipients of the 2007 Dow Educational Enhancement Grants were invited to attend a grant reception at the Dow Plantation House recently. The educators, from Assumption, Iberville, and West Baton Rouge parishes, were awarded a total of $20,000 to ten separate schools in the tri-parish area.

The $2,000 grants were awarded on a competitive basis to K-12 teachers in the tri-parish area and will positively impact more than 2,600 local students. They were evaluated by a Grant Review Panel, which consists of individuals representing the educational system, the community and Dow. The proposals were graded in four areas, and those receiving the highest scores were funded.

“Dow is delighted to honor these 10 teachers with educational enhancement grants,” said Stacey Chiasson, Dow Community Relations Manager. “Our K-12 teachers are the most important piece of our workforce development equation, touching our future workforce everyday. These educators are to be congratulated for pressing forward with innovative and outstanding ways to teach math and science.”
