Dow Receives Five Star Award from National Guard and Reserves

Dow Louisiana Operations received the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recently at an award presentation held at the Dow Learning Center in Plaquemine.  The ESGR award is given to employers who demonstrate active support of the employees who are also members of the National Guard and Reserves. 

The award was accepted by Lee Trusty, Dow Louisiana Operations Site Leader, and Darlene Mackinnon, Director of Dow’s Corporate Diversity and Inclusion, on behalf of The Dow Chemical Company.  The award was presented by Retired U.S. Army Colonel Jerald Juneau, at the award presentation.

“Mr. Trusty and Ms. Mackinnon have pledged that Dow will adhere to or exceed the requirements contained in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994,” Juneau said. “Dow has been a tremendous employer and supporter of the Guard and Reserve.”

Dow strives to accommodate its many Guard and Reservist employees.   Dow has a military leave policy in place, goes above and beyond on continuance of salary and benefits and assures that leaders are fully supportive of reservists while they fulfill their military obligations. Dow also supports local community activities when appropriate for veterans and reservists.

Trusty commented that, “Dow has been a strong supporter of the Reserve program.  It is a great program for our employees, in that they gain leadership skills and training through the military. Our objective is to make sure they have a good place to come back to work if they get called up.”
