Dow's Delia Contreras Recognized for Professional Achievement by HENAAC
Louisiana - August 15, 2006
C. Delia Contreras, Dow’s Production Leader at the CPE Plant in Plaquemine, was recently named recipient of the 2006 Professional Achievement Award by the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference (HENAAC).
Individuals nominated for this prestigious award competed against other nominees in four divisions; Industry, Government, Military and Academia. Regarded as one of the most competitive of HENAAC’s awards, those recognized for professional achievement are truly at the top of their game.
Professional achievement is judged on the uniqueness of his or her obtained goal; level of responsibility; potential as a role model; leadership ability and upward mobility; involvement with the Hispanic community.
Contreras became the Louisiana Operations CPE Production Leader in July, 2005. Prior to this, she was located at Dow’s Texas Operations site in the role of Dow Global Work Process Leader and Work Process Leader for the Acrylics, Solvents & Intermediated businesses. She previously worked with Union Carbide in roles in Malaysia; Raytheon Engineering and Construction in Birmingham, AL; and ECOPETROL in Colombia.
A native of Colombia, Contreras took the naturalization oath and became a U.S. citizen in 2002. Being very proud of her Hispanic roots, she is very involved in the Dow’s Hispanic Latin Network, with initiatives such as a showcase of different Hispanic countries, Spanish classes and dancing classes.
