The recipients of the 2006 Dow Educational Enhancement Grants were invited to attend a grant reception at the Dow Plantation House last week. The educators, from Assumption, Iberville, and West Baton Rouge parishes, were awarded a total of $20,000 to ten separate schools in the tri-parish area.
“We are proud to be able to support teachers in our local community,” Dow Louisiana Operations Site Leader Lee Trusty said.
The $2,000 grants were awarded on a competitive basis to K-12 teachers in the tri-parish area and will positively impact 3,378 local students. They were evaluated by a Grant Review Panel, which consists of individuals representing the educational system, the community and Dow. The proposals were graded in four areas, and those receiving the highest scores were funded.
“This program enables Dow to provide funding for education projects that promote academic excellence in the areas of science and mathematics,” said Rebecca Bentley, Dow Community Relations Manager. “The projects chosen are innovative and outstanding. We are proud to be able to support these educators as they work to build student interest in science and math.”
